POWERS !
PYROKINESIS: Ability to control the kinetic energy of atoms to generate, control and/or absorb fire. TELEPATHY ! the ability to read the thoughts of, and to mentally communicate with others (passive) ACCELERATED HEALING ! the ability to heal rapidly from any injury; the rate of recovery varies from character to character (passive)
FIRST MANIFESTATION !
Donovan's first experience with magic was, as in most cases, an accident. He was young, so young that he can't remember the incident himself, but was told about it later by his parents. He was maybe 2 1/2 - 3 years old when he'd had a temper tantrum in the middle of the living room. His mother had refused him something he had wanted and baby Donovan didn't like that at all. You know that saying 'he glared so hard he could have lit it on fire'? Donovan did light it on fire. The couch that is, not his mother, that would have been bad. His mother was a Hydrokinetic witch, however, and simply put the fire out with her control of water.
He first realized he had Telepathy when he was around 7 or 8. He'd been in Magic School and he'd been in class, they'd been taking a test or something. Everything in the class was silent except, faintly, he could hear talking as if it were coming from somewhere far away. He spent the entire class trying to figure out where it was coming from and why no one else seemed to notice it, he'd almost convinced himself that there was someone in the wall next to him until he spoke to his teacher at the end of the class. She'd tested him until she was satisfied that he did, indeed, have Telepathy and spoke to the Headmistress about getting him training for it.
His Accelerated Healing couldn't have presented itself at a scarier time. His mother had hidden the cookies from young Donovan when he was two. He wanted cookies and d**nit, he was going to get those cookies. He'd dragged his toys to the counter and stacked them in just the right way that he was able to climb up them and scramble unto the counter. He hadn't even noticed that his make-shift ladder had fallen down after he'd climbed up it. He shuffled around on the counter, opening cabinet doors to find the cookies. He was on his hands and knees, crawling across the counter to get to another cabinet and he just so happened to put his hand onto the knife holder as he was trying to pull himself to his knees to reach the doors. The holder tipped, his hand slipped off and he lost his balance, falling off the counter with a scream. He'd landed on his butt, which was cushioned by his diaper, though not by much. But that wasn't the worst of it. The knife holder finished it's tip soon after he'd hit the ground and suddenly, there was a knife sticking out of his leg and he was screaming bloody murder. His mother was already in the kitchen, screaming with him and she pulled the knife out....and then watched in amazement as the wound stopped bleeding, gradually grew smaller and scabbed over.
PROFICIENCY !
Donovan is fearfully skillful at generating flames. He practices a lot, you see, because he has a strong love of fire. creating a fireball comes almost as naturally to him as breathing would to a regular person. Manipulating flames is even easier, a flame that's already created and all he has to do is direct it? Too simple. Absorbing flames, however, is an entirely different and painful story. He can do it to a degree, he can create a flame and then make it disappear back into his hand, but it stings like a pregnant dog.
When it comes to Telepathy, Donovan is proficient enough. He's able to turn it on and off, but he has trouble hearing just one person when he turns it on. It can sometimes be overwhelming and so he tends to not turn it on if he's in any crowded place. If he does, it can give him a piercing headache that lasts for the rest of the day and really, when you think about it, it's not worth it. But when it's only him and a couple of other people, he's safe enough to turn his power on. Usually, when a female asks if he's used it on them though, he'll lie through his teeth with an incredibly convincing smile.
His healing has advanced in leaps since he was a toddler that's for sure. It used to take days for a wound to disappear. Days less than it normally would have, sure, but still, days, depending on how bad the wound was. Now, depending on the depth of the wound or how superficial it is, it could take from hours to minutes to heal. He finds that this comes in extremely handy when he's attempting to learn how to absorb flames.
------------------------------------------------------------- MIRRORMIRRORONTHEWALL • the appearance . the appearace . the appearace • ---------------------------------------------
OVERALL APPEARANCE !
Donovan is 6'3" and weighs 193 pounds. He is lean in stature, but well toned in muscle. He's not stocky, but he's not rail thin either, he's trim and fit. He's got strong arms and legs, both well defined in muscle without being bulky and he's got flat abs. He's got strong looking hands and slender, artistic fingers. Donovan has a scar on the bottom of his right foot where he stepped on a piece of glass when he was younger. He's also got small burns on his skin from where he's attempted to absorb fire and failed.
FACIAL FEATURES !
Donovan's hair is medium length for a guy, it's a dark brown and hangs loose, but not in his face. He has a very symmetrical and angular face. His cheekbones are high, his jawline is incredibly chiseled and sharp and his nose has a thin raised bridge that is flat on the top. Donovan's skin is slightly tan, but he doesn't spend a whole bunch of time outside for long periods of time, so he isn't as deeply sunkissed as some people. Thankfully, however, he is no ghostly pale either. His eyes are small and oval shaped, but they're probably the most captivating thing about his face because they're a brilliant blue that stands out strikingly against his dark hair and dark eyebrows. His lower lip is plumper than his upper lip, which is kind of thin, but it doesn't seem to matter because his lips are usually always turned up into a dark smirk of amusement.
STYLE !
Donovan likes dark clothes. Black shirts, dark jeans, leather jackets? Not all uncommon in this boys wardrobe. He's not going to be wearing anything flashy or eye-catching, because he knows that he's eye-catching all on his own. Anything else would just be over-kill. His wardrobe is just as dark and mysterious as he personality is, it gives nothing away, except maybe his body shape. As much as Donovan hides his personality, he doesn't try to hide his body from sight. Why deny women that simple pleasure in life. It wasn't like he was walking around naked, but a black muscle tee and a fitted pair of jeans? That was enough to get anyone's imagination revved and ready.
PLAYBY ! Ian Somerhalder

LIKES !
FIRE Donovan has an uncomfortable love of his power. Fire is just...him. His own personality seems centered around the volitale nature of the flames. If you see Donovan by himself, what he's most likely doing is playing with fire in some way. The only disconcerting this about this, to Donovan, is that, since he can't absorb flames without hurting himself, he's not likely to light himself up like the human torch anytime soon.
SARCASM This is Donovan's ultimate weapon besides his active abilities. This is the way he talks to most people, it's his normal tone of voice. He's mocking with faux-interest and encouragement to speak in his voice. This is how he gets his amusement, by out witting other people with his scathing humor.
CONTROL Donovan doesn't just love being in control, he needs to be in control. He always wants to have the upper hand in any given situation. He knows he's strong, he knows that people should fear him and he likes it best when they do. It gives him a sick sense of pride. There are certain situations, however, in Magic School, where Donovan is just not allowed to be in control, because he's the student. He hates those moments. They grind on his nerves.
DISLIKES !
MUSHINESS Seriously. Get a room. No one cares if you're in love, who you're in love with or that you're pining because you can't be with them every second of every day. Please stop moping, it's desperate and it's annoying and really, don't you have something better to do with your time? At least take it somewhere that's else. A very far away else.
RIGHTEOUSNESS You're not better than everyone else so get your d**n nose out of the air. It's great that you want to fight for the good fight. Go team, rah rah. Hang in their kitten it's almost Friday. Whatever. It's time to step out of the delusional world and realize that good doesn't always triumph and that maybe, just maybe, your definition of 'good' is relative. He particularly doesn't like Whitelighters for this reason. They're just rife with good intention and morals and...sugar and spice or whatever. They think they are so much better because they're destined to become a higher being and help the good of man. Bullnuts.
HIS FATHER Donovan has a very deep seated dislike for his father. His father left his mother when he found out that she was a witch. Consequentially, this all happened while she was about 3 months pregnant with him. He's met his father a couple of times, none of those times was he particularly impressed with what he saw. He hates being compared to his father in any way because he knows he's not the same man and could never be as weak willed as he was.
STRENGTHS !
UNPREDICTABILITY Some might say that Donovan is predictably unpredictable. He never does what you'd expect, he doesn't follow the norm and he likes it that way. He likes to keep people guessing. You'll never know just how Donovan is going to react to something. Usually if you're not expecting it from him, you can bet he'll do it, unless he thinks you're expecting him to do it just because you're not supposed to expect him to. He likes the surprise. It makes life so much better when he knows that no one has quite cottoned on to him yet.
TWISTED HONESTY Donovan isn't going to lie to you. What's the point? The truth hurts so much worse anyway. He has a way of spinning truths though, a way of wording them so they just sound worse than they are. For example, if someone has withheld information from another person, they've obviously been lying this entire time and how do you know that you could possibly trust anything they've said? Donovan plants doubts into other peoples minds...and he didn't even have to lie to do it.
WEAKNESSES !
thingyY Donovan is, without a doubt, sure of himself. He knows he has skills with his powers. Both of them. He's aware of how great he is and his ego is quiet large. He doesn't boast though...very much. He's not annoying in his thingyiness, he just knows how good he is and he's willing to bet that you're not going to take him down a notch or two, not without embarrassing yourself. This, however, could ultimately be his downfall because it's not in his nature to fear anyone or what they could possibly do to him.
LOVE Donovan isn't in love. He never has been. But if and when he does fall in love...that'll be something. Especially something you don't want to mess with. Already a dangerous person, if the person he loves is threatened, he's not going to ask questions, he's just going to attack with everything that he has. The most dangerous thing about this, to Donovan, however, is that it will make him unfocused, he'll only be paying sole attention to getting his love back.
GOAL !
Donovan's goal in life is to be powerful. He wants people to look at him in fear and awe. He commands respect already, but if he was as powerful as he wanted to be, people would have no choice but to respect him and his power. Other than power, though, his secondary goal is fear. Not full out shrieking in terror when they see him coming, no, that's annoying. Stop. But averting their eyes and shrinking back? That's fun.
FEAR !
Donovan has a healthy dose of respect for the Charmed Sisters. He would never, ever admit that it was a fear, but really, it is. He knows, that should he follow through with his plans of power and dominance and the sisters found out, they would vanquish him. So he's got a theory, they never find out. It's going well so far, he thinks.
SECRET !
Donovan's deepest secret is that he has no qualms about killing. At all. There is just no hesitance in his mind when he thinks about it. He contemplates murder a lot, not once has he ever shied away from it. The only reason he hasn't yet is because he knows that the Eldars would expel him from magic school and the Charmed Sisters would know for sure that it was him. It was all so obvious, it was disgusting.
HAPPIEST MEMORY !
Donovan's happiest memory is when he found out that he had Telepathy as well as Pyrokinesis and Healing. To a seven year old boy, this is possibly the coolest thing that could ever happen. He remembers going around afterward, bragging about it and attempting to use it on people. Little him was awesome, in his opinion.
WORST MEMORY !
Donovan's worst memory is the first time he was forced to meet his father when he was six. Thanks Mom, no really. In Donovan's specific opinion, his father is a human piece of trash and he disgusted that he has to share gene's with the man. His father is weak, scared and pathetic. All traits that Donovan can't stand in a person. He's just glad that those specific genes weren't passed to him. He is his mothers son and for that, he's thankful.
OVERALL PERSONALITY !
Donovan is possessive. Apparently this is one boy that never learned how to share his toys. Especially the women he is using as pawns. Even though he's not in love with them, he's still possessive of them. He's sure that makes them feel loved in some obscure woman way. He's never been in love, really, he doesn't think that he ever will be and it's not something that he's looking for. But when it comes to women, Donovan will use them as a means to an end. He won't treat them badly, but he's not going to fall in love with them either. He knows how to play them like a fiddle so that they feel loved enough to do what he needs them to.
Donovan is very arrogant. He knows he's hot and he knows its had for woman to resist him. He's confident, he has the utmost faith in his abilities as a witch and as a charmer. He walks around like he's King of the World, because to him, no one can get even close to his level. He knows what he wants and he has ways of going about and getting it. He's very focused and patient. It could take months for one of his plans to come full circle, but he'll wait it out, ever watchful.
He's a very dangerous person. Donovan is not adverse to hurting someone, in fact, he won't think twice about it. He doesn't care for getting in trouble or being scolded. The most dangerous thing about Donovan, however, is that it's very difficult to make him lose his temper. Which means that he can remain very focused and intent through an entire fight. You may think you've made him mad if he aims a fireball at you or grabs you by the throat with his lightening reflexes, but that's not anger, that's annoyance. You don't want to see him angry. That's probably when the bodies start piling up.
Donovan is very gifted with words. He can spin them in anyway he chooses. He could commit a grievance and make someone else feel guilty for it. It's not his fault, you made him do this, you forced his hand and you should be utterly ashamed of yourself for it. He's terribly and uncomfortable honest. You really don't want to ask Donovan a question you never wanted to hear the answer to. He'll tell you the truth, and, if he sees that it hurts you, he'll elaborate...descriptively. He's very much independant. If he wants to do something that you don't want to do, he doesn't care, he's not going to find something you want to do, he'll just go do what he wants without you. So you either have the choice of staying behind or following him.
As much as his active power can suggest, Donovan is animalistic in nature. And as with animals, when he finds a mate, he will mate for life. That's exactly what his lover will be, his mate, there's really no other way to look at it. If and when Donovan falls in love, it will be to stay. Just as with an animal and their mate, however, you better be ready to kill Donovan if you hurt his mate. Already a dangerous person, Donovan will become frenzied and he will tear into you thoroughly.

CLASSES TAKING !
English / Lit [IV] History of Magic [IV] Living Non-Magical [all seniors, only seniors] Magical Ethics [IV] Potion Making [IV] Vanquishing [IV] Pyrokinesis [IV] Psychic Abilities [IV]
FAVOURITE CLASS !
Donovan loves Pyrokinesis because he loves playing with fire and what better way to do it than in a class than teaches it?
LEAST FAVOURITE CLASS !
Donovan would definitely have to say Magical Ethics. Who cares? Seriously. He didn't, that was for sure.
SUBJECT BEST AT !
Donovan is best at Pyrokenisis. Again with the fire, it just comes naturally to him.
SUBJECT WORST AT !
Vanquishing. There's just something about that class he can't seem to grasp a hold of. It's harder than it looks, that's for sure.
TIME AT MAGIC SCHOOL !
Donovan has spent almost 14 years at Magic School, going from their nursery up.

Donovan was born August 21st to Liliana Hale. His father had left his mother when she was three months pregnant with him and he'd found out that she was a witch. He couldn't handle it. Liliana raised Donovan herself, with no secret of magic and Donovan loved it. His mother was Hydrokinetic, which made bath time...interesting. When he was a baby, had he tried to run from bath time, it wouldn't have really mattered. He'd get halfway down the hallway and then be drenched under a barrage of water anyway. Then be scolded for making his mother get the carpet wet. If he woke up in the middle of the night and wanted a glass of water, all his mother did was sleepily put her hand over a glass and and then hand it to him. Donovan thought she was awesome and hoped that he was magical like her.
When Donovan was two when he found his first power. His mother had hidden the cookies from him, he wanted cookies and d**nit, he was going to get those cookies.
It was soon after that, maybe a year or so, when his Active power came to light. Him and his mother were both standing in the living room and he didn't want to clean up his toys like she was demanding of him. He saying 'no' and she kept getting more annoyed with him. It had been one of those days where he was just not happy and punishments weren't working, he was determined to be ornery. He mother grabbed him up by the arm and swatted him on the behind, telling him that he wasn't to say 'no' to adults. He threw himself on the floor and glared defiantly. That was when the couch behind Liliana had burst into flames. She put it out with her power and then sent him to his room, she didn't even seem phased by the manifestation. It wasn't long after that, that he found himself enrolled in Magic School.
During his time in the nursery of Magic School, Donovan was kind of a loner. He didn't actively seek out people to hang out with. But even as a child, he realized found it opportunistic and...necessary to make 'friends', or rather, people that seemed eager to listen to him and do things that he wanted to do. Even at the young age that he was, he knew how to talk sweetly to get the things that he wanted, he was manipulative and maybe borderline sociopathic, but no one was any the wiser.
When Donovan was six, his father decided that it was time to meet his son. Donovan didn't see why, after six years of pretending that he didn't exist, he was all to willing to keep the act up. But, as always, his mother wouldn't take 'no' as an answer from him. She'd tried to convince him that it would all be ok and that his father would see how great he was and love him like a father was supposed to. It...didn't exactly work out like that, especially since Donovan didn't bother to keep check on his sullen sarcasm. Donovan didn't like his father, he'd set eyes on the man and had an immediate dislike for him. He was mousy and scared. The way he looked at Liliana with fear in his eyes made Donovan want to set him on fire. Then he turned his disgustingly fearful eyes towards Donovan and asked Liliana if he was 'like her'. Donovan couldn't help but retort 'at least I'm not like you' and it was all down hill from there.
Donovan was seven when he last power arrived. He was in the second 'grade' and he had been in class, taking a test. The room had been utterly silent, the only sounds being the rustle of paper or the shifting of fabric against a chair. There was absolutely no talking because the teacher was an ogre. He wasn't sure if that was literally or not though, he was seven. He'd been busy, bent over his test when he'd heard it, faint voices. Not just one or two, but about twenty of them, all seeming like they were whispering, like the flutter of butterfly wings. He couldn't hear them very loudly at all and so, it was no surprise that no one else seemed to take notice of the soft noise. Donovan, however, was annoyed. He was trying to take his test and he had no idea where these voices were coming from, though it sounded like they were far away. He'd almost convinced himself by the end of the class that they were in the wall next to him and told his teacher about it. She'd tested him and confirmed her own suspicion that he had telepathy and got him registered for training.
The rest of Donovan's time spent in Magic School was of the norm... For Magic School at least. As the years progressed it saw Donovan's powers, ego and mental prowess progress as well. He was even more manipulative and was even better at hiding this fact. He could manipulate someone without them even being aware of it. He's been with a couple of girls, though he's never loved any of them, but he's used everyone of them to serve some purpose or another. Not that they'd ever be aware that they were being used, of course. Now he's in his final year of Magic School and maybe, just maybe, now all his planning can come full circle by the end of the year.

(POST TAKEN FROM PI)
Shane was....busy. He didn't even think he'd had enough time to himself over the summer to even think about how much things had changed for him after taking his NEWTS at the Ministry and graduating from Hogwarts. He especially didn't think he'd find himself back at said school so soon after bidding it goodbye. All during his seventh year, he'd panicked because he'd had no idea what he wanted to do when he left the school, he managed to keep his grades top-side, so that he options were left open to whatever might come up, but he never once really laid down a concrete plan for it. Then, later in the year, Irene Goldstein had approached him and offered him a job as a model for her magazine. He was prepared to take that offer, it was a job and it was something that he could probably do. At least it eased the panic of being completely lost after he left his safe haven. Then Riley had gotten attacked. That had been one of the worst, if not the worst day of his life. He never wanted to see her in that position again, which was how he'd found himself talking more and more with the Flying Instructor/Auror, Cira Conti. She explained to him what he needed to do to get into Auror training, she explained how tough it was going to be and how being an Auror was one of those jobs that you had to be absolutely sure that it was what you wanted to do because it you were unsure in anyway, it would eat you alive before you even had a chance to go anywhere. Shane was determined however and went into the program as soon as he'd left the school.
Training under Baz Killian was hard, a lot harder than he expected. There was drills, there was lessons, there was senior members of Level 2 dropping by to mock. He hadn't given up yet though. But, no matter how exhausting his days on Level 2 had been, he had always found the time to go see Riley down in Australia while she was training herself. The first time he visited, it was almost awkward, neither one of them really knew what to say to the other for awhile and then they just started conversing normally, like they always had and it seemed like everything was ok again. He visited her as often as he could, sometimes making it out to watch her Quidditch practices. He knew that she needed time to process everything, he knew he should probably give her space to think, but she always made it so d**n hard to stay away when her face lit up every time he'd apparate down. He had spent some time with both her and Aidan...not like that had been weird or anything, with Aidan giving him pointedly obvious looks. Thanks man, real subtle. There had also been the times Roxie was there when he was and that was even LESS subtle than Aidan. Thank god Piper hadn't been there, she was about as subtle as a hippogriff to the face.
But after every visit with Riley, or with any of this other friends from school that he'd parted ways with months ago, he'd have to go back to training. He was doing well, he'd been compliment on his drive and his passion and his quick skill with a wand in a stressful situation. He was sure those were all reasons why, when the school was reopened and there was a demand for even more aurors to be at the school for safe-keeping, he was chosen. In a strictly, shadowing/training capacity and it was only for a day or two every week, then it was back to Level Two and to Baz. The last thing Shane thought, when he'd joined up with the Auror Training Program, was that he'd see the outside of a training room so soon after joining. But desperate times called for desperate measures, he supposed. He certainly never thought he'd be back at Hogwarts again. And yet...here he was, training under Cira. It had been an adjustment, especially since he was there before the students had even arrived. He watched them come in, he stood there while they were searched. People that he knew. They were surprised to see him of course and a lot of people had greeted him warmly, well, the ones that liked him anyway. He wasn't under any delusion about why he was at Hogwarts with Cira though, he knew that he was brought in because he was freshly graduated, because he'd been popular with people in years below him, because he still had friends that went to that school. The Ministry wanted information and they wanted people to talk to Shane in hopes that some kind of light would be shed and they'd be able to stop attacks before they happened. Shane didn't have the heart to point out that he'd never known when anyone was going to get attacked.
It was just after the Welcoming feast, it was weird being on the other side of that, not sitting at his old house table, ready to start a new year. It was weird not being here for academics and instead, being here for work. He was here to do a job, and not once had he had any thought otherwise. He'd stopped and chatted to people as they passed him and greeted him, he smiled at them, but he was here to help Cira keep them safe and he had no intention of doing anything else. Shane was a very serious person, he'd set his mind and he was focused. That was a scary thing all in itself. All he'd needed to remind himself that he wanted nothing more than to do his job was seeing Riley at the school. It brought back memories of her attack, it brought back memories of the day before the end of the year when he'd told her he loved her. He would give his life to make sure that she was safe. That was all he could do. During the feast, he'd been patrolling with an Auror that Cira had sent him out with so that she could have some time to herself. He didn't mind, he knew that she was under a lot of pressure and it must have been hard to have an understudy. The Auror he was pair with though didn't talk much, he was, in fact, kinda surly. It made Shane uncomfortable and the silence between them hadn't been easy. As soon as the doors opened in the Great Hall to release the students to their dorms, however, Shane was free from the surly Auror. He had to go report back to Cira and he was almost relieved that he wouldn't be caught in the middle of the mass rush for the common rooms.
When he reached her office, he entered silently, shuffling his feet a little so he didn't just ninja up on her and startle her if she was immersed in her work. She was waiting for him, however, and he grinned at her easily. She smiled back at him welcomingly and greeted him, standing from her desk and walking towards him. “Nothing too bad” he answered, rubbing the back of his neck. “The auror you paired me with was pretty quiet and moody, it was a tense trip” he offered with a slight chuckle. “Not that I really blame anyone for being moody” he added, the smile fading off his face as his eyes took a darker, more contemplative light. “But all was quiet during the trip, not a single movement except from the ghosts. I think they're keeping an eye out too” he informed her. Another chuckle pushed through his lips softly as she expressed her concern for him being overwhelmed by being back in the castle with the students. “It was kind of weird being back, I won't lie. But it's nothing I won't be able to handle, I know I'm here for a reason and I'm focused on that, I don't distract easily.” he promised her with a nod of his head.
