POWERS !
ACTIVE POWER GEOKINESIS ! the ability to control the classic element of earth; sand, stone, rock, lava, and/or dirt
PASSIVE POWERS TELEPATHY ! the ability to read the thoughts of, and to mentally communicate with others EMPATHY ! the ability to read, sense, and/or control the emotions and/or feelings of others
FIRST MANIFESTATION !
The first time that Damia ever learned of her abilities when she was rock climbing with her parents one sunny afternoon near the volcano that was apart of the island of her island home of Santorini. She had been between her mother and father as they climbed up the side of the cliff without any sort of gear. They had done this all the time so it was nothing new; she was roughly about six at the time and she had no idea that she could ever have the power to manipulate the earth, but she would find out on this day when she would slip on some loose rock and start to fall. Her mother, who was below her, tried to grab her as she fell and had missed her by inches. She tried to grab a hold of the rocks as she fell, but she couldn’t grab onto anything. it was then that a ledge appeared out of nowhere and she landed on it hard. It hurt, but she was glad that it had been there, though she hadn’t remembered it when they had gone up and then she started to freak out a bit when it started to move upwards to where her parents were. It was at the top that she was explained that the elemental abilities ran in her family and all that stuff.
She knew of her telepathic abilities since before she was old enough to talk. She had always heard her parents’ voices but never saw their lips moving; she couldn’t figure it out or even ask about it since she couldn’t speak herself yet. She did eventually though, and she asked about it, and found that telepathy and clairvoyance also run in her mother’s side of the family as her father was just a human and had accepted magic along with her mother. She the also learned that she would have one more power but that they didn’t already know what it would be as the third power that ran in the mother’s family was unique to the individual as it seemed. It was sometime around her ninth birthday that Damia would realize that hers was empathy. A fight had broken out in the market when she was with her father one afternoon getting some groceries. As soon as she left the store with her father and was knocked over by the men as they scuffled. She was so frightened and just wanted them to stop; not much long after that, they both pretty much just calmed down and walked away. she told her mother what had happened and then they realized what it was.
PROFICIENCY !
When she first started out, she wasn't the greatest in way of her powers. She learned of them at all different ages (geokinesis at age 5, telepathy at infancy, empathy at age 9) but have since then brought them all up to pretty much the same level now. Her telepathic abilities, while one of her passive powers, is one of her most powerful ones; she always found it odd, but it was the first one she was aware of and the one that has been ‘with her’ the longest. She is still not perfect when it comes to her main active power; if she is not completely concentrated, she might miss something or it wont come out right or be sturdy enough (depending on what she is doing of course). She is getting better and has done a lot more practicing now that she as been at home in Greece; they have plenty of mountainous places for her to get better acquainted with her powers.
------------------------------------------------------------- MIRRORMIRRORONTHEWALL • the appearance . the appearance . the appearance • ---------------------------------------------
OVERALL APPEARANCE !
( HEIGHT ) she stands at an average five foot nine inches tall, though she can seem a bit taller if she is wearing heels. She’s never felt like a towering monster or a short midget as she was always just average when it came to her height; she was lad too because she had seen many that were freakishly tall or some that were rather vertically challenged and she was always glad to be average. Average, that was Damia… or so she thought anyway.
( WEIGHT ) she wasn’t the sort to work out to stay slim, though she did have a thing about eating. And being Greek, she grew up eating rather greasy foods so she had been a bit on the pudgy side when she was a little girl as she got older and she got taller, her weight evened out and he weight maintained itself with her metabolism being just high enough to burn off what she hate before it could add pounds onto her body in the places she wouldn’t want them to be added. She weighs roughly between one hundred and twenty-five and one hundred and thirty pounds. She doesn’t weigh herself every day as she doesn’t worry too much about her weight because she can still see her toes.
( DISTINGUISHING MARKS ) Damia has a few marks worth mentioning here I guess, though there will be very few people that will ever see them. Her family knows that they are there, but that is also because they have seen her in her birthday suit when she was a young girl. One of them is on the left side where her rib cage is; it doesn’t really have a defined shape to it like a star or a boot or anything, it was more like just a blob that was no more than the size of a quarter or a half dollar. She has another birthmark on her foot, though she thinks it is more of a scar just without the memory of ever getting it, on her right foot that kind of oddly enough looks like a natural bandage on her foot. It goes all the way around her foot, but not like an anklet would.
FACIAL FEATURES !
( HAIR ) her hair cascades around her face to frame it rather perfectly. It is chestnut brown in color and it is naturally wavy when it is left to dry on its own, straight when she actually takes the time to dry it herself. When she is pouring over papers or music sheets, her hair is usually pulled up and off of her face so that it doesn’t shield the light from her view or just annoy her for hanging on the page as she tries to read or write. When she is going out somewhere, either with her friends or on like a date or something, she will wear her hair down though always have some sort of hair-tie if say she knows she will be eating at some point.
( EYES ) it is hard not to get hungry when you look into her chocolate brown eyes long enough. Her brows seem to be arched high above her eye, usually giving her this look of curiosity and questioning. Like one of those looks you give someone when you don’t completely buy what they are saying and you are trying to formulate your own idea of what the truth it; that is the look that she usually looks like she is wearing, though half of the time she isn’t doing it on purpose. For those that know her well, they know that she is actually giving that look when one brow is slightly higher than the other.
( FACE / SKIN TONE ) under the fluorescent lights of most places, Damia looks fair when it comes to her complexion, though her dark locks generally shy people from thinking that she is of certain descent. Most are surprised when they find out that she is one hundred perfect Greek, but she doesn’t care if they believe her or not. She knows what she is and she doesn’t care how dark or light her skin is for her region. There are many in her own village where she grew up that were lighter skinned like she is. And fair complexion or not, she tans rather nicely in the warmer and sunnier months, compliments of her region.
STYLE !
Not being one for highly expensive clothing, Damia is more of the sort to prefer going to a bargain store like TJ Max or Target to shop. Those are actually two of her more favorite stores and only some of the things she can’t wait to have again now that she is going back to the States. That was definitely one thing she missed when she went back home to Greece was the fashion that was offered in the States. Sure she could visit those places whenever she wanted to, but she felt a responsibility to her students that she was already giving up to teach at the Magic school. She had made sure to find a suitable replacement before accepting the job.

LIKES !
( HELPING PEOPLE ) well this one is kind of a duh one really. She’s a teacher, of course she likes to help people; and if you are a teacher that doesn’t like to help people, then why the hell are you a teacher? Anyways, she has always been the sort to help others when she was able to; she had always had to since her father’s mother had needed surgery on her hip and had been rendered unable to walk that much for a while. Damia was only six but she still went to stay with her grandparents for a couple of months to help her grandmother while her grandfather was working during the day. And even now, she is quick to offer a helping to hand to someone if they have one too many bags to carry or just can’t seem to do something on their own. Some call her a hero for her efforts, even when they are thought to be wasted efforts, but she is way too modest to think of herself in such a honorable fashion.
( INTELLECTUAL CONVERSATIONS ) as a smart individual herself, Damia is rather fond of a conversation that stimulates her mind. She doesn’t like to feel bored when talking to someone and she hates having to explain things as if she were talking to a first grader either. True she has to do that when she teaches English, but that she has a bit more patience for because she knows that English is a hard language to learn. Leave it to the d**n English to create such a hard language.
( OUTDOORS ) growing up in Greece gave her a lot of time outdoors as the weather there was usually on the warm side and it gave her many opportunities to be outside. She loved to swim in the ocean, always enjoying how beautiful the color of the ocean was near her home island of Santorini. She loves rock climbing, as she has done since she was a little girl, and she also loves to hike. She loves nature and respects it completely. She loves to be outside when the weather permits and sometimes even held her classes outside when the weather was not too hot or rainy.
DISLIKES !
( THE RUTHLESS ) anyone that prays on those weaker then are not cool in Damia’s book. That is like taking candy from a baby and you should feel ashamed of yourself for doing such a thing. A baby cannot defend itself, though true the parents should be there to defend it, so it is just wrong to take their candy. The same goes for anyone, no matter their age or stature; just because you have more power (either magical or not) than someone else does not give you the right to use that to your advantage to get what you want. That is pretty much like being a bully and Damia is not a fan; she had been known to break up fights between people before, her empathy powers playing a major role in that.
( GAMES / BULLnuts ) she is a rather upfront individual and isn’t one for games or the run around. If she asks you a question, she wants an answer and she wants a truthful one if that can be mustered. She has been known to rather blunt in her day and it is not unheard of for her to snap at you if you try to make her feel less than she really is or try to insult her. She also has the cleverness to come back with something good and even able to render someone speechless because her words will totally catch them off guard. Sometimes her bluntness makes her feel bad if she sees that she has truly hurt someone’s feelings; it isn’t usually her intention to do so, sometimes her words just get in the way. She hates it, but she can’t help it either.
( RACISM ) It is understandable to be rude to someone that you do not like and have not liked for some time, but to be rude to someone off the bat for no real reason is not really fair, or at least that is what Damia thinks. She is and has always been one for fair play and equal opportunity. She doesn’t discriminate base on physical appearance, color, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation or anything of the sort. For someone to be mean or rude to another based on only any or all of those things is not worth your time anyway and they should just be ignored. As a teacher, even in a small town, she has seen how the different social classes mesh, or don’t mesh as it were, and have to constantly have the poorer kids pulled off of the rich kids because they were commenting on how their fathers pay their fathers salaries and other sorts of nonsense that kids find themselves in. petty and stupid and she doesn’t care of it.
STRENGTHS !
( FAMILY / FRIENDS ) Her family has always supported her, no matter what she has chosen for herself. They have never doubted her abilities or told her that she couldn’t do something just because they didn’t think she could do it. They knew that she was determined and headstrong and that she wouldn’t let them stop her from doing what she felt was right for he; they knew that it would be easier to agree with her then fight a losing battle. She respects them a great deal for being there for her through all that she has done and never giving up on her, even when she has wanted to, and she is grateful for them. The few close friends that she has have always been there for her and have always made her feel like family, and vice versa, and have always leant a shoulder for her to cry on whenever she needed it. they meant the world to her and she wouldn’t; trade them for the world.
( INTELLIGENT / LOGICAL ) As if her grades didn’t prove it enough, Damia’s intelligence shines through in many of the things that she does. Usually, coupled with her killer logic, she can find an easy yet productive and seemingly impossible way to get something done. Sometimes, in all honesty, she amazes herself on how she comes up with some of the things that she does. Even as a little girl, she had come up with these crazy ways of organizing her room and her drawers and closets and such. Even when she went to the Magic School, she had had everything situated in specific ways so that she knew where everything was at all times and had all of the similar things together. Some called this OCD but she called it logic. If you use pens with paper, then why not put them all together, right?
WEAKNESSES !
( BOSSY ) This is something that she is not a fan of it in others, but knows she suffers from it personally. Aside from her parents and teachers, she was never a fan of people trying to boss her around. Unless you had a right to, as in being a parent or teacher of hers, then you had no business trying to tell her what to do. She is pretty responsible in her own right so she doesn’t usually need someone to remind her or even chastise her for what she should or should not be doing. She isn’t much of a rule breaker anymore either. As a teacher, she is in a position where she is allowed to tell people what to do; in her own way, she is bossy as well, though she normally turns that off when she is not in school. the only times she can still be bossy with someone outside of school is when they are doing something for her and she wants them to do something a specific way. Hey, we all like things the way we like them, right? She is no different.
( ROMANCE ) While she has never actually been in love per say – she isn’t exactly sure what love feels like so she isn’t sure if she has ever been in it before – but she is such a sucker for a few sweet lines and a sweet guy. She can’t help it, it was the English nerd in her that loves to read, or so she blamed anyway, as she always felt that any woman that didn’t fall for such sweet words was crazy. Well she had found out a few times that it was more the other way around; the one that falls for the lines are the fools. She has become more guarded now then she was back when she was a student at the Magic School – though don’t confuse this with thinking that she was/is easy because she was/is far from it – and is not as quick to trust a man with her heart, though she will still smile and accept at least a first date to a sweet talker. She likes to believe that there is more to a book than its cover; she’s the same way.
GOAL !
All she really wants to do now is just enjoy her life and have as much fun as she can have while still making an impact on the world. Well she has been doing just that, even if the ‘world was a bit more condensed, and was now even about to embark on an even bigger journey so that she can make an even bigger impact on a more global way. A teacher at the Magic School; an honor, she knew it was, and she treated it as such. Now she would get to meet people from all over the world, not just her local village and eve just from the island of Santorini like she has been doing for the last seven years. She only hoped that she proved to be worthy of the post she had been accepted for; she knew that many viewed English lit. as a pain in the ass course and that it wasn't as popular or as ‘paid attention to’ as the powers classes, but she would find a way. She always did.
FEAR !
She fears that she will leave this world before her time is up and will have never known the loving touch of a man. And in that respect, it means, not in a sexual way, but just in the most basic of ways. As stupid as it may sound, she has yet to feel a man touch her and know, from just his touch, how he feels about her. in just an embrace when she’s had a bad day and he just holds her to make he feel better; one that can literally lift her spirits from a simple brush of her hair. It sounds stupid and of course she’d never tell a soul about it, but she has always feared she’d never experience something so special.
SECRET !
She honestly thinks that there is something wrong with her when it comes to guys. While she may easily fall for the sweet/nice guy with a thousand lines, it just seems that she was never destined to be in a serious relationship. Any guy that she has ever dated has been for only a few weeks or months; never anything longer than four that she can remember anyway. she has had guys cheat on her and lie to her, telling her that she was special and that she meant something to them… well where they hell were they now? there was probably only one guy that she ever dated that had stuck with her even after they called it quits; she has always valued Sabien’s friendship and they have kept in touch, barely, since she returned to Greece after she left school a year before him. Sometimes she wondered what would have happened had they lasted longer, but can’t dwell on the past, right? and now she gets to see him again, since he is a teacher at the Magic school as well; how conveniently awesome.
HAPPIEST MEMORY !
One o the happiest memories that Damia can remember was the day she left the Magic School and returned home to Greece. She had felt such a sense of accomplishment in her life that day, that she had closed the chapter of her adolescence and was now ready to embark on her adulthood as a young witch with the world at he feet if she so desired. And no not in the evil, dark ‘I want to take over the world’ sense so don’t get too excited here. She was her own woman and had a firm control on her life and he abilities and was now ready for her life to be what she wanted it to be. And she made it what she wanted to make of it when she returned home and started teaching.
WORST MEMORY !
This would probably have to be when her grandfather died. She was about thirteen and the summer had just started. She’d be heading off to the Magic School that September and she was excited. She had been out with her grandparents, her father’s parents, as they wanted to take her shopping before she went to the States for the year. She had been in the fitting room trying on some of the things that her grandmother had brought for her to try when she heard a scream. She ran out of the changing room with the pants she had just taken off in her hand and her eyes were wide as she saw her grandfather lying on the ground clutching his arm and her grandmother on the ground next to him crying for him to hold on and of someone to call an ambulance. She ran back into the changing room to get dressed because she knew that they were leaving for the hospital; her grandfather would be dead before she got out of the changing room, ready to go.
OVERALL PERSONALITY !
( PATIENT ) She has her moments when she isn’t, don’t be fooled to think otherwise, but Damia is rather patient person. She had no siblings of her own; she did, however, have plenty of neighbors and classmates and then her students later on in life to give her practice at being patient. She knows that some just cannot help it, but she also knows that some do it for attention. At least with her empathy abilities she is able to calm many people down before they do anything rash, but sometimes she just cannot get a handle on it. It depends on her mood, the person’s mood, their own abilities if they have any and surrounding distractions.
( PASSIVE ) Damia does not believe in fighting of any kind, though some confrontations are unavoidable. She isn’t the sort of female to go looking for a fight, though she won’t exactly back down from one either. In a way, she will manage to talk to down, though without making you seem or look like a coward or fool though of course her empathy abilities don’t play a role in this, noooooo. The only way you can actually get Damia to ‘fight’ someone in an offensive way is if they cause her or anyone that she really cares about (her family or her very close friends) and does so maliciously. She’s more of the ‘you got a problem with me, bring it to me; keep my family out of this’ sort of attitude and does her best to set a good example for her students and peers that violence is not always the answer.
( FUNNY ) Damia loves to laugh and loves being surrounded by those that make her do so or at least enjoy laughing as well. her preferred genre of movie are comedies, though of course she is a major fan of chick flicks too, though those usually fall under comedy too, though under the subcategory of romantic comedies. Either way, she was big of laughter and smiling and being or at least showing that you were happy. She hated it when people didn’t smile when they had a reason to, even if they claimed they didn’t. She realized that most people just never know what they have even when it is staring them in the face and they don’t realize it until it’s too late, until they are gone. It happens to the best of us, it’s just a shame that most of us cannot admit that it has.
( ARTISTIC )Being in Greece almost her entire life, Damia has grown to have an appreciation for art of all kinds. The art that surrounds her home in the Aegean is more landscape wonders as well as ancient ruins and archeological finds; her vacation travels with her family to far off lands (which was pretty much anything out of the Cyclades) often brought her to museums and such and her father taught her a bit about art as he had painted in his spare time, a hobby for the tourists he used to say. She knew he loved to do it, though he never pursued it for a career. She was the same way, though her love for art branches to all forms, including writing, music, dance and painting to list a few. She sings too, though usually only her shower head hears her.
------------------------------------------------------------- IT'SALLSPELLSANDPOTIONS • the education . the education . the education • ---------------------------------------------
FAVORITE CLASS !
Aside from her powers classes, Damia’s favorite class was English lit. It can be said that English is a second language to her since her native language is Greek, but she has grown up learning both from the same age, so she likes to consider both of then to be her first language, though her native tongue is still Greek as she is from Greece. She excelled in the class and always found herself to get sucked into the poems, essays and stories that they had to read and analyze. Probably also might be a reason why she would then return to her homeland after school and start teaching to the kids in her area.
LEAST FAVORITE CLASS !
Her least favorite class, though one of her best subjects, was her telepathy class. And as stated, it wasn't that she didn’t do well in it, quite the contrary actually; she was just never really one to like knowing what other people were thinking. Sure it had its benefits, but it had its cons as well and she didn’t care to know what some people were thinking. She has a lot more control over her ability now, but even in school, she had trouble turning it off when she was not in class, especially when it came to others that were also telepathic.
SUBJECT BEST AT !
Her powers classes were her best ones, as she advanced very proficiently with them. Her geokinesis class was held mainly outside, which she loves the outdoors, and she had learned a great deal about her abilities and how far she could push herself. Her telepathy class was interesting, to say the least, and she had found herself occasionally picking up the random thoughts of others, though she has since learned to control that problem. Her empathy powers have always worked rather well, even before she ever knew she even possessed them; that class had always been a breeze for her and she was glad that she had that ability most of the time, especially when her parents’ parents came over at the same time.
SUBJECT WORST AT !
History of magic had to be her worst subject, though none of her grades were too shabby as she had almost a perfect GPA. It was actually her History of Magic class that caused her to not get the perfect 4.0 she had been hoping and aiming for. She knew the information, that wasn't her problem; no, for her it was her attention for it. She couldn’t pay attention in her class as she was always thinking about her other classes and how well she was performing. She just couldn’t get into the class the way she did with her other ones.
FINAL GPA !
3.99

POSITION HELD !
English lit. teacher
TIME IN OFFICE !
She is new; this would be her first year teaching at the Magic School.
CIRCUMSTANCES !
Damia had been back home in her native country of Greece teaching at the local school there, helping the Greek children learn English, when she had received word that the prestigious Magic School was in need of an English Lit. teacher for the upcoming year. She had been doubtful that she would have gotten the position, but she sent her application in anyway. Well wouldn’t you know that she had in fact gotten the position and was thoroughly stoked about it. she also knew of an old school friend of hers that was teaching there already so she made sure to write him and tell him that they would be seeing each other a lot more now that she was coming back to San Francisco.
PRIOR CAREERS !
When she left the Magic School after her four years there, Damia returned home to Greece where she would start teaching English as a second language to the local kids before they would go into the tourism field, as most of the island kids did when they were old enough; some stayed on the island itself as it was a very popular vacation destination spot, while others went to other islands or the mainland for work. She stayed doing that for the last seven years of her life. She didn’t buying to the tourism thing like a lot of the other kids on the islands did; no, she chose to teach them before they joined that.

( STAGE ONE ) As if the beautiful island of Santorini in the Cyclades wasn't enough, a beautiful baby girl was introduced to the newlywed Mr. and Mrs. Nichols. They had tried to have a baby for a couple of years after getting married, but for some reason she just never did. At first they thought it was something wrong with her, so they got her checked out. Agatha was fine so then they decided to check out Stefano and he was fine too. The doctors were perplexed and they proposed a bit of help but having them both take hormones to stimulate their reproductive organs. Well whatever it was that they were given worked because Agatha got pregnant and then, on June 15th, 1967, Damia Andromeda Nichols was born. Her parents were over the moon about her, her grandparents as well, for she was literally a miracle as they didn’t think that they would ever be able to have children of their own after no results for so long.
( STAGE TWO ) Growing up was a joy for Damia as she had been surrounded by love and access to a vast amount of knowledge and space to do as she pleased. With the way her homeland was laid out, she learned from an early age to use her hands to help her when she needed extra balance or even to hold onto if she was in a steep spot. she learned to walk when she was just around two, though not quite yet, and her ability to talk started a bit later than normal due to her telepathy and she thought that she was talking for at least a year or so when she really was – sort of like a Look Who’s Talking thing – and didn’t actually say her first word until she was close to three. Her parents had thought it was from the hormones they had to take in order to even get pregnant with her, but they found out it was her telepathy that had caused her delayed language development.
( STAGE THREE ) She picked up what she had missed out on rather quickly and was just your regular average kid with magical powers, which of course she had to keep mum about. She was one of the oldest in her age bracket of the kids in the neighborhood, though there were a few older kids, but they would go off to join the tourism industry so she never really got to get to know them. She didn’t buy into that whole tourism thing, probably why she was so glad for when her time did come to leave the island with everyone though she would not be going off to feed into the tourism industry. She’d be going off to the Magic School and to the Magic School she went.
( STAGE FOUR ) She had a lot of fun when she got to the Magic School. Her kind hearted and fun loving nature earned her a rather positive reputation while she was a student and had definitely left a mark on the place when she had left. Her grades had been phenomenal all four years of school and had actually been sad to leave. She had made many friends while at school, though only a few really close ones, and she even found herself a few guys to occupy her time, though even those numbers were to all that impressive. She had kept in contact with some of her friends since she moved back to Greece; some f them have actually responded, which has given her a greater respect for them, and some did not, though she has become aware of some of their more trying times to which they wouldn’t be able to write.
( STAGE FIVE ) Her world back in Greece was somewhat like she had never left, but she was glad to be home and she was glad that she was older and more mature wit herself and she had a better idea of what she wanted to do. she took a year off after leaving the Magic School and just helped around the house and visited with her grandmother often since her grandfather died just before she went off to the States and didn’t get to see her all that much while she was gone. She welcomed the time spent with the older woman and knew that she was getting ready to kick the bucket soon too. Damia knew she was lonely, of course she was, and she had started to prepare herself for when that day would come and she did her best to be with her for as long as she could before that day came.
( STAGE SIX ) Damia taught English as a second language to the local kids as well as many of the island kids sp that they could go off and join the tourism industry that Greece thrived on. Some actually stayed on the island itself to work, but most others went to other islands and to the mainland for jobs. Damia stayed on the island to work, but not for the tourism industry… well, at least not directly anyways. She was teaching them so that they would be able to make it in the tourism industry, or the American diner industry, take your pick. She had started to think about a life elsewhere, maybe teaching English as a second language in another country, she had heard that they pay pretty good money for that. It was then that her grandmother Calista that told her about the position available.
( STAGE SEVEN ) And so she prepared herself to head on back to the States for the second time in her life and she was so excited about it. She had found a replacement for her position here on the island and was all ready to go… and then her grandmother Eunice died. Those years of loneliness finally caught up to her and she died in her sleep. Damia’s trip back to San Francisco had been postponed for a few weeks as she attended the funeral and then mourned with her family for her grandmother. Once her mourning was over, Damia was ready to finally head on out to the States, again.
