SAMPLE WRITING:
Ok, so I just decided to make a post of her learning about her powers when she was young.
Alicia your sister and I have something to tell you.
Really, the girl never saw it coming. Demon? Her? Nothing interesting happened in her life ever. What the hell is a demon anyways? Isn’t it something that flies around in a black cape and plays little tricks on all of humanity for the devil? Is this what Erica had been keeping? So many questions filled Alicia’s head she honestly had no reaction for it all when the two were done telling the story. What happened to her mom, why Robert was always away, the whole reason for it is because they are a family of demons. And it gets better, her and Erica were destined to greatness together. Somehow, both the Talons sitting on the sofa needed to be placed in some kind of psych ward where they would be under constant care so they couldn’t “use any of their powers and destroy the universe.” Isn’t that what evil does anyways? Destroy the universe or take over the world? What kind of evil beings are they if they don’t follow the rules? Pfft, maybe I have just gone nuts. She thought to herself, still unable to process it all or come up with any…proper answer to the facts that were laid out in front of her. Okay, she had to breathe, that’s the first step to recovery. Breeeathe. Finally Alicia shot up out of the old torn armchair and paced back and forth behind the couch of the two “demons.” They wouldn’t kill her right? Robert wouldn’t kill his own flesh and blood. And Erica, Erica wouldn’t be able to kill her sister. The sister that she had loved for so many years before their world went down into hell.
Ha Hell. That’s probably real too, right? That’s where demons go to and chill with the others, counting how many people they killed and making bets against who ends up dead next. Alicia bit her tongue, not wanting to get slapped for saying the wrong thing. Do they have claws that come out when they’re angry? Alicia stopped at the furthest point away from them she had been tracing. I’d know if Erica has claws… Alicia reassured herself as she took yet another deep breath. Funny how four words changed her life entirely. You are a demon. Robert made it sound like something that happened every day, something that was normal, something she could just accept. Could she just accept it? After all, it was part of her, she had been living with it for the past twelve years, just not knowing it yet. The teleporting in the night…they said it had something to do with a power. Shining? Shimmying? …AH! Shimmering! Alicia looked back and forth from man to child until she felt dizzy. Finally she simply sat on the floor pretzel style in the middle of the moth-eaten carpet, words running through her head.
Anything she wanted…demons didn’t give a care in the world about what others wanted. Then why did Alicia care? Maybe it’s just her surroundings. Alicia’s thing fingers played with the rug in front of her, rubbing it slowly and tracing circles into it. Stealing a quick peek at the two she thought she had known for years, Alicia started to realize she couldn’t see them the same way anymore. Actually, scratch that. Alicia realized she couldn’t see Erica in the same light and Robert was a bit worse than he was before. He was unshaven, and he even looked evil. There were huge bags under his eyes and his dark brown eyes looked almost black in the dim light. He wore all black, as did his “work friends.” Was that a demon thing? Black? Well, something was gotten right. Then there was Erica. Before two years ago, Erica had been a the sweet blonde sister that cared about everyone and everything. Now, there was a cruel smile on her thin lips, giving her a mischievous aura. How do I look to them? Alicia wondered to herself. Well, Alicia’s red hair still glowed and didn’t look nearly as greasy as Robert’s. Her eyes had eye shadow and eye liner on, sparing her from any evil worn-out face that might have been there. Her lips were soft. Alicia reached up to touch her cheek and looked up from the carpet at her family.
This is me.
Though she might not have liked or desired this curse on her, Alicia realized that no matter what she did, she’d always be a demon. Her mother was a demon, as were her parents and their parents. The same with her father. Maybe they didn’t want to be this, but they clearly accepted it eventually. Also, as much as she disliked Robert, how did he react? What about her mother? Had her mother accepted it so easily? This would only be another time that Alicia could only wish to talk to her mother though. Magic. Maybe magic could help her speak to her mother. Only to see if I can speak to mom. She told herself, promising to stop practicing magic as soon as she got what she wanted. But she would soon enough be consumed, like so many others, including her sister.
”Ok, where do I start?”
